Will Za’Darius Smith play against Texans? Here are the Lions’ inactives

Houston— The Detroit Lions will officially not use Za’Darius Smith for their Week 10 game against the Houston Texans on Sunday Night Football.

Smith, acquired from the Cleveland Browns at the trade deadline on Tuesday, will need some time before making his Lions debut. He had a few days off this week because Cleveland was on the bye week that Detroit had in Week 5. Ultimately, the Lions seem happy to include him in a few more practices and meetings before bringing Smith into the mix.

Also inactive for Detroit: safety Loren Strickland, linebacker Malcolm Rodriguez and offensive linemen Giovanni Manu, Taylor Decker, Christian Mahogany and Colby Sorsdal.

Decker was sidelined earlier this week with a shoulder injury and Rodriguez is currently recovering from an ankle injury suffered in Week 8 against the Tennessee Titans.

Houston’s star receiver Nico Collins and defensive end Will Anderson Jr. have been officially ruled out.
