The South Suburban Casino is located within the city limits of East Hazel Crest and has parking garages on adjacent property in Homewood.

It is estimated that the casino could generate around $2 million in revenue for the Southland region each year and create over a thousand jobs.

“We’ve worked for 12 years to get this done and it’s obviously coming to fruition and it’s worth it,” East Hazel Crest Mayor Thomas Brown said.

A 16-story hotel tower with more than 250 rooms and a rooftop restaurant is also scheduled to open at the property early next year.
