Zach Bryan lets his music do the talking as his ex-girlfriend Brianna “Chickenfry” LaPaglia accuses him of emotional abuse.

On Thursday, November 7, the 28-year-old country star shared his latest track, “High Road,” which came out the same day as his song “This World’s a Giant,” while LaPaglia accused her of emotional abuse BFFs Podcast.

After sharing “This World’s a Giant” on Thursday, Bryan released his latest song “High Road” along with a lengthy Instagram caption that same evening.

The track came on the same day that LaPaglia, 25, claimed the musician emotionally abused her and asked her to sign a non-disclosure agreement.

Reps for LaPaglia and Bryan did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s requests for comment at this time.

Describing his new song on Instagram, Bryan detailed what it was like driving to his mother’s gravesite in Oklahoma after “being away from home for a year and a half.” Bryan’s mother, Annette Bryan, died in August 2016.

“I told her I was stopping touring because I was going to do my masters in Paris next year. I told her about being back in Oklahoma, told her about all my best friends in New York, and told her about all the nights we cried with the moon.” about the immeasurable laughter, that my band and I have shared over the last five years, over all the calluses on my fingertips, every tear shed, told her how she did it Rolling Stone [sic] and most of all, he told her about swinging in the porch with my beautiful sister,” he wrote. “I wrote the chorus for this song a month or two ago and finished it when I realized that I am blessed with all of these things.”

“I thought it was time to release it,” he added. “Thank you so much for listening to ‘This Worlds a Giant’ last night and thank you to all the people who love me; who really carried the burden with me. It seems all these “Quiet Dreams” have become way too heavy, but I’m home now and I’ll walk with you through the pain. “High Road” is out today and I appreciate you all.”

In the song itself, Bryan sings about how he’s “waiting by the phone all damn night for someone who’ll never call” and appears to be reflecting on his mother’s death.

“Remember to tell me that I would make the big break/You died, I guess you told God it was true,” he sings. “Remember sitting on your porch and talking about your old regrets / In Tulsa while the bad things claimed your brain / It seems the quiet dreams have gotten way too heavy / But I’m home now and I’ll see you through the pain.”

Bryan’s new song came as LaPaglia accused her ex-boyfriend of emotional abuse during a performance on Thursday BFFs Podcast She co-hosts with Dave Portnoy and Josh Richards. It was the first time she spoke about her relationship with the country singer since he announced their split on October 22.

During the podcast, LaPaglia described the last year of her life as “the hardest year of my life dealing with the abuse from this guy,” before sharing that she was “scared” of him and “didn’t want to talk about it.” because I was scared” the week before.

She described the alleged abuse as a cycle of “building you up, beating you down, apologizing over and over again.”

“There was always another excuse as to why he treated me so badly and why I cried myself to sleep every night,” she said. “Why he yells at me and then you wake up is the excuse, it’s the ‘I’m going to get better, like I need you in my life,’ but if you’ve been through that – I don’t expect people to be emotional abuse.” to understand if you haven’t experienced it. I hope you never have to go through it, but if you have, you’ll know what I’m talking about.

LaPaglia also claimed that women who were previously in relationships with Bryan were made to sign non-disclosure agreements (NDAs) to prevent them from publicly discussing their experiences with him. She also claimed that she was offered $12 million to “not talk about the relationship.”

“It came down to the fact that I am not the people before you, and I was someone before you, and you made the women before me believe that they had no choice but to take money from you, to sign away their experiences “To sign what they went through,” LaPaglia said.

“You can jump off and sing your little f—– songs on stage like you’re a good guy. You’re allowed to treat the people around you like s—. Sorry, I’m not her. I don’t want your money; I don’t want to buy a damn house in two years and think, ‘Oh, that’s the guy’s money that literally destroyed me.’”

The couple officially began dating in July 2023 before Bryan confirmed their split on Instagram on October 22.
